Granite Lake Educatioal Resources will not be taking any new clients for bankruptcy pre filing counseling sessions or post filing debtor eduction classes. Any individuals who have already scheduled counseling sessions or begun post filing classes may finish those appointments or classes and their certificates will be issued. Clients in need of those services can refer to the Department of Justice website at http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/cc_approved.htm for Credit Counseling http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/de_approved.htm for Debtor Education for another authorized service provider or consult with their attorney.
The Department of Justice has lowered the standard for counseling to the point that we can no longer afford to provide services which we believe offer meaningful value. Therefore, we bid you adieu and wish you good luck.

Financial Counseling
Granite Lake Educational Resources (G.L.E.R.) is a non-profit community service organization. Our counselors are well trained and professional
Granite Lake Educational Resources charges a $50 dollar fee for a financial counseling session. A typical session will run about an hour. We do not charge any additional fee for a spouse to attend the session, in fact we highly recommend that whenever possible financial planning and counseling needs to include both partners. You need to be working together on this. We will not refuse services to anyone due to an inability to pay. Fee waivers are based on federal income guidelines.
If the individual or couple is filing bankruptcy we will issue Bankruptcy certificates to filers at the end of their session.
Impact on your credit report
G.L.E.R. does not report any information to any credit reporting agency or bureau; therefore the use of G.L.E.R.'s programs will have no impact on your credit report. However, during the course of a financial counseling session, G.L.E.R.does provide information about alternatives based upon an individual’s financial situation. Some of these alternatives, specifically debt management plans and the filing of bankruptcy, will affect your credit report.
No Contract
Consumers are in no way entering into a financial contract with G.L.E.R. and are not to make any contractual payments to G.L.E.R.
Source of Funding
G.L.E.R.'s source of funding is the fees it receives for Financial Counseling and Financial Education programs and certifications needed for the purpose of Bankruptcy cases. G.L.E.R.does not take or receive funding from any creditor or lender.
Important Information for Post-Filing Class Participants
- The Post-Filing course Money in Motion is provided by Granite Lake Educational Resources.
- The course costs are $25 per person for Internet classes and $50 per individual or $75 per couple for Telephone and In-Person classes. There are no additional costs for the program. This course is available to you without regard to your ability to pay.
- Cecil Ellsworth is the Director of Education and Community Relations for Granite Lake Educational Resources. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education, has 15 years of classroom experience, and has taught financial literacy for 9 years.
- Class dates are on the backtogo.org website. Online classes can be arranged by calling 1.866.366.0599
- Granite Lake Educational Resources does not pay or receive fees or other consideration for the referral of students to these classes.
- Upon completion of the course Granite Lake Educational Resources will provide a certificate of course completion to each student.

Our Educators
Cecil Ellsworth is the Director of Education and Community Relations for Granite Lake Educational Resources. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education, has 15 years of classroom experience, and has taught financial literacy for 7 years.
Sherri Floyd has been an NFCC, FCRA and CCCS certified counselor since 2002. She has been the manager and counselor of the Coeur dAlene, ID CCCS office since 2003. She has taught financial literacy classes for four years
Sherry Gardner has a degree in secondary education and a Ph.D. in Psychology. She has a Masters in Counseling and has a clinical counseling practice. She has more than 11 years teaching experience in colleges and secondary schools. She is licensed to sell insurance and securities in Washington and Utah.
Michael Bull has 17 years experience teaching in colleges and universities. With more than three years experience teaching financial literacy.
