Granite Lake Educatioal Resources will not be taking any new clients for bankruptcy pre filing counseling sessions or post filing debtor eduction classes. Any individuals who have already scheduled counseling sessions or begun post filing classes may finish those appointments or classes and their certificates will be issued. Clients in need of those services can refer to the Department of Justice website at http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/cc_approved.htm for Credit Counseling http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/de_approved.htm for Debtor Education for another authorized service provider or consult with their attorney.
The Department of Justice has lowered the standard for counseling to the point that we can no longer afford to provide services which we believe offer meaningful value. Therefore, we bid you adieu and wish you good luck.
Privacy Policy
Our agency is committed to assuring the privacy of individuals and/or families who have contacted us for assistance. We assure you that all information shared with us, both orally and in writing, will be managed within legal and ethical considerations. We will allow approved third parties, such as financial auditors, accrediting agencies and contractors, limited access to client files for quality assurance and operational purposes only, with safeguards to protect confidentiality of our clients.
We may also use aggregated case file information for the purpose of evaluating our services, gathering valuable research information and designing future programs. Your anonymity will be maintained through the use of your client number without other identifying information or by using aggregate data in all circumstances.
In all other situations, your information may be released to appropriate individuals or agencies ONLY UPON YOUR WRITTEN REQUEST or when our staff has been served by a valid subpoena.
Privacy Practices
The following practices detail circumstances under which we will release your information to a third party:
- We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our clients or former clients to anyone, except as required by law.
- We may compile information and aggregate data about you, but this may not be disclosed in any manner that would personally identify you.
- We may disclose some or all of the information that we collect, as described below, to third parties requiring access for quality assurance or operational purposes, and to those that you have authorized who need this information in order for us to assist you after a counseling session.
- We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees and approved third parties that need to know that information in order to provide services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic information
We may collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on our counseling forms or other forms you provide;
- Information about your transactions with us, your creditors, or others; and
- Information we receive from a credit reporting agency.
We may disclose the following kinds of nonpublic personal information about you:
- Information we receive from you on our counseling forms or other forms, such as your name, address, social security number, assets, debts, place of employment, and income;
- Information about your transactions with us, your creditors, or others, such as your account balance, payment history, parties to transactions and credit
Release
I hereby authorize Granite Lake Educational Resources to release all non-public information it obtains about me to my creditors and any third parties necessary to resolve the matter(s) discussed during my counseling session.
I further RELEASE and authorize all of my creditors to provide non-public information about me to Credit Counseling Network.
I hold Granite Lake Educational Resources its employees, agents and volunteers harmless from any claim, suit, actions or demands of my creditors, myself, or any person resulting from advice or counseling. Nothing herein shall apply to actions or claims under the provisions of the United States Bankruptcy Code,11 U.S.C. ยง et seq.
